WHAT FAMILY RESOURCE IS FREE THIS MONTH? FIND OUT HERE

Happy New Year dear friends!  To celebrate 2011 and my book 31 Days to a Younger You: No Surgery, No Diets, No Kidding, I will be blogging everyday for the month of January.

Each day, I will post the title of a chapter from my book, along with a little devotional or background information that you can’t read anyplace else.

The book is divided into three sections, a personal prescription for your heart, mind and body.  We begin today with the heart and “Back to First Grade.”

When I wrote this first chapter, I reminisced about elementary school and the wonder I felt when I was little.  Now that my son Ethan is in the middle of first grade, I have even more writing material.  Too bad the book is already written!

Here are a few lessons I’ve learned about being young from my wonderful, silly first grader Ethan:

  • Recess is the best part of the day (adults, make sure there’s time in your day for fun)
  • Run around a lot
  • Make silly faces and noises but not at inappropriate times
  • Do your homework first and then play second
  • It’s okay if you don’t like what everyone else seems to like (Ethan doesn’t like Star Wars, Transformers, Spiderman, Batman, etc. and it doesn’t bother him one iota)

You may not be in first grade anymore, but can you put a little more “play” in your life today?
