In Day 1-9 of my book, the focus in on your heart. Now we head north and consider your mind. What keeps your mind fresh and engaged? I use this quote in my book from beloved Peanuts creator Charles Schultz,
Life is like a ten-speed bike; most of us have gears we never use.
What gears are untapped in your life? In today’s reading, I write about the connection between your brain and your tennis shoes. Believe it or not, there is a strong correlation between the two. The more exercise you get, the more blood, nutrients, and oxygen pump through your brain.
So if you want to be able to remember more, learn quicker, think clearer, you can hit the gym, talk a walk, or join a dance class. When you move your muscles, you’re helping your brain too.
Your untapped gears may be both physical and mental. You are capable of much more than you think you are. Take a baby step today towards physical health and you’ll find that you think more clearly too.
My husband and I did the home DVD workout program P90X last year. We’re not hitting it everyday like we did during that time, but since the New Year, we have been dusting off those DVDs a few times a week to exercise together. I’ve found when I exercise, I can get more done in the day because my mind isn’t cloudy. It all starts with your sneakers. Find a physical activity you like and lace up those tennis shoes today!
