This book immediately caught my eye. One thing my husband James want to do as the kids grow up is to take them on special dates that they will remember. We’re always looking for date ideas for kids. Right now, a great date for my 2nd grader son is to go to the LEGO store and then have ice cream. My 5-year-old daughter Noelle has been taking about chocolate chip pancakes at the Original Pancake House lately.
A few weeks ago, my husband James was teaching Noelle how to ride a bike. She wasn’t, well, motivated. James said, “When you ride your bike down the street, I will take you on a date!”
In time, not only did she ride down the street, she got herself all the way to school on two wheels without wiping out (much to my relief). Did she remember the promised date? You bet!
James took her out to ice cream. They had a good time but when he got home, he said, “It was okay.”
We needed this book, 88 Great Daddy-Daughter Dates by Rob & Joanna Teigen.
I said to James, “You know, most of our dates revolve around pizza, In-n-Out Burgers, or dessert. We need more activity based dates to make memories.” He wholeheartedly agreed.
In their creative book, Rob & Joanna Teigen give you date ideas along with compatible conversations and questions to make the most of a teachable moment.
For instance, in “Puppy Love,” you visit a pet store, take pictures with your favorite pets, and then head to a store to pick out a stuffed animal to remember your time together. Then you talk about how some pets are adopted and how God adopts us. Scriptures and prayers for each activity are included.
This book will get your creative juices flowing! I love it and highly recommend it for the daddy and princess in your life.
