I had the pleasure of traveling to New York City to tape a segment for The Better Show which is syndicated nationally.  It was a pretty cool thing to speak well of marriage and husbands on national television!

The hosts Audra Lowe and JD Roberto are both married so it was an easy, fun, natural conversation. They are fantastic talk show hosts who put you immediately at ease. Before the show started, the producer who was a woman came in and had an interesting comment that you may be able to relate to.

“I was reading through your book and I thought, ‘I need one of these!’”
(In other words, sometimes we as wives wish we had helpers too).

In response, I shared a story about when James made dinner and cleaned up too after I had a long day with the kids. “When you are considerate towards your man, he is considerate towards you too!”

She wanted to me to share that story on air, so I did. It’s amazing when we show respect to our husbands in ways that are meaningful to them, it’s so much easier for them to show us acts of love (or say words of love) that are meaningful to us.

The segment will air on The Better Show on Thursday. This is my birthday week so it’s a wonderful birthday present to have this chance to say on TV that a “happy marriage” is NOT an oxymoron!

I’ll post the video when it’s available.  Until then, here’s a NYC album of some highlights that James and I got to enjoy as we combined a business trip with a mini-vacation!  Highlights included the MET and Cloisters and Fort Tryon, Chelsea Market and the High Line, Times Square Church, B & H Photo (for James), FAO Schwartz and of course the tastes of NYC…bagels, pastries at Zabars, hot dog, pizza, and wafels (this Belgian waffle that is my new fave!).
