When I was 16 years old, I dreamt of being a public speaker. I know, a mortifying thought for many teenagers, but I loved talking into a microphone! Not singing, but talking.
Fast forward a few decades and I am amazed at God’s faithfulness to my teenage dream. Here I am with two amazing, experienced speakers and authors, Kathi Lipp and Cindi McMenamin. We teamed up with Seven Church and Pathways Church in San Diego to present a one day seminar Desire.
The heart of the day was centered around questions like:
What is God’s desire for your life?
What if your life has taken a different direction than your dreams?
Are you willing to surrender your dreams to God and allow Him to shape your life and desires?
Although I was sick and left the conference pretty much voiceless, I was so blessed to be a part of that day. I am always amazed that God has opened the door for me to speak – a dream and desire I have had for many years. It didn’t happen overnight, but many little things paved the way.
Emceeing events in college over 20 years ago.
Joining a Toastmasters group about 15 years ago.
Teaching junior highers.
What is the desire of your heart? Is there something you are aching to do but it just hasn’t quite come together yet?
Why not begin learning about that field a little bit more? Volunteering in your area of interest? Maybe you can take someone to coffee who is doing what you’d like to be doing?
Take small steps each day towards what your heart longs to do. Constantly walk with your hands open – praying God use me and grant me favor. Don’t hold onto your desire so tightly though that God can’t mold it. Hold things loosely, trusting that God will steer you in the direction that you need to go.
Just keep moving…
