April 21-27 is National Infertility Awareness Week. I am familiar with infertility because we had trouble conceiving our first child. I never thought I would have trouble getting pregnant, but there we were attending a fertility workshop a little more than 10 years ago. I discovered I had a fibroid in my uterus that was preventing me from getting pregnant.
After many doctor’s appointments and rescheduled surgery dates, it was finally time to have the surgery to remove the fibroid. Shortly thereafter, I got pregnant and we welcomed our first child into the world. I have had three children and two miscarriages since then.
Many women are still waiting for that first child. Infertility can be a heartbreaking experience for a husband and wife. That’s why I’m so glad my friend author April Motl and her husband Eric have written something to bring comfort and hope to any couple dealing with infertility.
This week, I’m giving away a copy of their book Waiting for God to Fill the Cradle: One Month of Devotionals for Couples.
All you have to do is leave a comment and a winner will be chosen on Saturday, April 27. Please make sure I can contact you to request your mailing address if you win!
Waiting for God to Fill the Cradle may be for you, or perhaps it is a devotional you can pass along to friend who is feeling quite alone in the infertility journey. When all the other wives you know are moms, it can be a very lonely and hard place. I appreciate that April Motl and her husband Eric are so willing to share out of their experience of infertility to encourage others.
Here’s what readers are saying about Waiting for God to Fill the Cradle:
Thank you for writing this—we’ve been trying for 2 years, had two miscarriages, and a surgery. So many just don’t talk about it, but I always know I’m not the only Christian woman struggling with this. THANK YOU! ~ Kendra
I just have to let you know that your devotionals have blessed me TREMENDOUSLY!!!! Praise God for you and your calling to minister to women and couples. I found your devotional while I was in tears because my husband I and I have been trying for almost a year. ~ Laurie
