James has a book on the shelf by the inspirational speaker Charlie “Tremendous” Jones. Charlie went to heaven in 2008 after a tremendous life of service! I picked up his book Humor is Tremendous today and was so encouraged by reading through and laughing at the many quotes in the book. Charlie was known for his bear hugs, endless energy, and amazing speaking ability. He gave over 5,000 seminars and has over 1.5 million copies of Life is Tremendous in print.
One reporter talked about walking through Charlie’s offices and private library. Almost every room had cases and cases of books on the walls. He had over 270 volumes on Lincoln, 85 on Washington, and countless more on Lee, Jackson, Patton and Churchill.
Charlie said, “You are the same today as you’ll be in five years except for two things, the books you read and the people you meet.”
That’s worth reading again.
“You are the same today as you’ll be in five years except for two things, the books you read and the people you meet.”
So…who are you meeting and what are you reading?
Here are a few quotes to make you smile or think today:

My wife spent four hours in the beauty shop the other day – and that was only for an estimate.
Etiquette: Learning to yawn with your mouth closed.
God gives the milk but not the pail.
Conceit is God’s gift to little men.
Baby-sitter: Someone you employ to watch your television set.
Not everyone repeats gossip. Some improve it.
And one especially for today:
