31 Days to a Younger You cover artHave you ever wondered, “If God cares only about the inner life, why bother with makeup, haircuts, or weight-loss programs?”

My husband James has an answer…and if you know James, you can imagine him saying this.  He refers to the passage in 1 Samuel 16:7 which talking about David says, “For the Lord does not see as man sees.  Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

“Ha!” James laughs.  “You see, God may look at the heart, but we care about appearances!”

Obviously, the state of one’s heart is of utmost importance, but there’s another reality here too.  Your appearance really does mean something to your man (if you are married or may be someday), and it also means something to your fellow human beings around you.

If you scoff at this, imagine if you showed up to church or work in your pajamas one day.  No doubt, you would make a few people feel uncomfortable as they talked with you in that kind of attire.  Keeping a neat appearance isn’t about vanity, it’s actually about consideration for the people around you.

So, with that in mind, I’m happy to offer my book 31 Days to a Younger You as a great way to work on improving your appearance in the New Year AND also work on having a more childlike, full-of-wonder heart.   For the next two weeks, the eBook on Kindle is only $1.99 so now is a great time to embrace aging and look your very best in 2014 (find the Top Ten Ways to Look and Feel Younger on page 181).

Beauty has no age limit or expiration date.  Aging doesn’t mark the end of your journey.  It is merely a bridge to many new beginnings God has planned for you.  – page 180

Happy New Year my friends!  May your journey in 2014 be sweet as you walk closely to our beautiful Savior!
