WHAT FAMILY RESOURCE IS FREE THIS MONTH? FIND OUT HERE

FocusFor years, I have listened to Focus on the Family.  Jim Daly and John Fuller have been trusted voices in my car, headphones, and home.

This week, I got to meet them face to face!

Who knew that Jim Daly had a giant gumball machine in his office?  (I told him, “I have to take a picture of this for my family!”)

I got to meet co-host John Fuller who I interviewed for 31 Days to a Happy Husband.  I interviewed his wonderful wife Dena for 31 Days to Becoming a Happy Wife.

And of course, I was in the best company – with my co-author of Growing Up Social, Dr. Gary Chapman!

I know, it’s unbelievable to me too!

We taped 2 broadcasts about Growing Up Social that are scheduled to air sometime in October.  I will keep you posted on the exact dates when I know!   I was really happy with how the taping went.  Dr. Chapman is such a pro and it’s a privilege to learn from him.  Often I would think after he responded to a question, “I couldn’t have said it so succinctly!” or “Wow, how did you get to the heart of the matter so  quickly?”

Not only did I have the amazing experience of taping the program, I got to meet several staff members who produce Focus’ magazine, Thriving Family.  I got to give a big hug to Julie who chose Lucy’s photo to go on the “crazy hair” page of the August/September edition.

My publicist Janis Backing, Lorraine Pintus and Tammy Maltby

Then, as if it could get better, I got to meet speakers & authors Lorraine Pintus and Tammy Maltby.  They poured into my life, giving me godly wisdom about welcoming God’s story…however that leads in my speaker/author/wife/mommy life.

The next day, we taped Dr. Chapman’s program Building Relationships at the Focus studio.  Then I joined Dr. Juli Slattery for her Java with Juli program.  And I got to meet another hero of mine, Linda Dillow, who was taping at Java with Juli before me.  (Linda Dillow and Lorraine Pintus authored one of my husband’s favorite books, Intimate Issues.  God has a sense of humor to connect us for James’ benefit!).

And I can’t say enough about Moody Publishers – my publicist Janis and acquisitions editor Judy took such good care of me and have become dear friends.

So perhaps more special than the opportunity to be on three radio programs was the honor of meeting the fine, godly people behind the ministries.

I am ever grateful for the kindred spirits God brings along the journey.

Such unexpected blessings during my visit to beautiful Colorado Springs.

I encourage you as you follow the passions God has placed in your heart – do whatever you can to meet like minded people.  Attend conferences.  Join a mom’s group.  Go to a women’s retreat.  There is such deep encouragement when a sister in Christ becomes a friend and joins you along the journey.
