Need I write more?  A little of this and a little of that and if you’re like me, January has you weighing in a few pounds heavier.  Six holiday pounds for me.

Every year, it’s the same story.  Every January, the belt isn’t tightened.  It’s loosened since our pants are too tight!

And I hate it when my husband is right about weight loss.  I quote him loosely explaining my regular predicament,

You make all sorts of exceptions.  If you’re going to be successful at losing weight, you have to stop making exceptions.

You know the exceptions he’s talking about.

You’re at a friend’s house and you’re served dessert.  You don’t want to be rude!

You’re at a business lunch and you have to eat like everyone else.

You’re at a birthday party and that cake looks good.

You just had a fight with your child and you head straight for the hidden M&Ms.

Thankfully, my last exception was gloriously delicious…peanut butter fudge that I could truly eat everyday for the rest of my life and be happy.  It was served at my friend Wendy Speake’s lunch party.

Now I will stick to healthy food until the six pounds is gone.

Years ago, I had a Losing Weight After Baby podcast.  You can actually still listen to the archives of those shows on my Happy Home podcast.

I will be taking my own advice…again.  Take heart ladies.  Every year, I shed the pounds from the previous year because I am determined not to go up a size in my clothing.  If I can do it with my sweet tooth, you can too!

I’m optimistic.  I’ve increased my workout schedule from one cardio a week to two or three a week.

I plan my menu each day and look forward to each part (because I’m hungry).  Usually it’s something like this:

Breakfast:  Smoothie, egg and low carb toast, coffee

Morning snack:  Handful of nuts

Lunch: Turkey sandwich with apple

Afternoon snack:  Seaweed, decaf coffee

Dinner:  Chicken, salad, broccoli

For a few weeks, dessert does not exist.  It is not an option.

Want to join me in the fight against those pesky holiday pounds?  What have you done to lose your holiday weight?

(Let’s gain some ground before…Valentine’s Day…ug!)
