What are the three words to change your Valentine’s Day?
I’m not thinking of “I love you” – although those are definitely winsome and worthy words.
I am thinking of a phrase I heard my Pastor preach a few Sundays ago.
The three words are: AND THEN SOME
What if you did what was required at work…and then some?
What if your children did what was required at school…and then some?
What if you did what was required in your marriage…and then some?
That “and then some” is the difference between ordinary and extraordinary!
Colossians 3:23 says it this way,
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.
My Valentine’s Day challenge to you is simple. Today and everyday until Valentine’s Day, be an “and then some” wife.
- If your husband could really use some TLC in the bedroom, show up to bed wearing something pretty before he looks at you with his googly eyes.
- Sit next to him while he watches TV and give him a hand massage.
- Cook a favorite meal to surprise him on an ordinary weekday.
Now, you’re human and may be thinking, “Well, that’s nice. But why doesn’t he do those kind of things for me?”
Do you know what that line of thinking will get you?
An ordinary marriage. A marriage of getting by, but not getting closer. A marriage that’s surviving, but not thriving.
When you make the commitment to be an “and then some” kind of spouse, you will change the temperature of your home for good – not just for Valentine’s Day but for every day.
If you’re a mom, it’s easy to pour your love into making hearts and cookies for your children. But this weekend, remember to leave space in your heart for romance.
Let your husband know that he is enough for you…and then some!
