Happy 4th of July friends!

I am so thankful to be an American citizen.  I am thankful for this beautiful land of the free and home of the brave.  Consider this excerpt from Dennis Prager’s book, Still the Best Hope: Why the World Needs American Values to Triumph:

The American system of values has uplifted more downtrodden people than any other system, while ultimately producing what has become the least racist, most altruistic, most prosperous, and most opportunity-giving society in world history.  But, again, it does not appeal to the nearly universal desire to be taken care of.  Rather it demands that every individual who is capable of doing so must take care of himself – and then his family, community, and even the oppressed of other countries.

When my parents immigrated to America from Indonesia more than 45 years ago, they came with a suitcase and a dream.  They found a place to work hard and earn an honest living.  An opportunity to own a home, choose a career, and raise a family in freedom and security.

Let’s not take that for granted and say a prayer for America today.
