Put down your phone and computer keyboard. Pull out a blank piece of paper and pen or pencil. It’s time to write your spouse an old-fashioned love note.
Begin with the words “Remember when…”
Let the memories fill your mind. Remember when you first saw your spouse? Did your heart beat faster? What did you do on your first date?
Remember when he held you for the first time and you felt so secure and happy?
Remember when you dreamt about being married to him?
Remember the days before your wedding as you imagined being husband and wife?
Now write a love letter to your spouse, recounting one or two of those memories. Write to him about that memory and tell him how much it means to you to have this history with him.
Invite him to write you a “Remember when…” letter. It could be something you do periodically back and forth with each other through the years.
“I remember the devotion of your youth, how as a bride you loved me.” Jeremiah 2:2
