5 Ways to Tame Your Inbox

The work of yesteryear could be left at the office.  There was no choice.  Now you carry your work around with you in your pocket.  Your home computer can easily be used to catch up on emails.  How can you tame your inbox so you’re not constantly checking and responding to emails?

Here are 5 ways you can tame your inbox starting today:

Don’t be afraid to hit delete.  Develop an anti-clutter attitude and delete with gusto.

Use the two-minute rule.  If you can do what’s being requested in less than two minutes, do it immediately.  This gets it off your to-do list before it ever gets on your to-do list.

Unsubscribe from email lists.  Keep a few you really like, but unsubscribe from the rest.  Pay special attention to delete shopping email lists – think of all the money you’ll save when you stop responding to weekly sales!

Turn on “Send and Archive.”  Gmail has a feature called Send & Archive, which automatically archives an email thread as soon as you reply.  No need to give precious real estate to these emails in the inbox.

Search for Big Offenders.  Search for emails with large attachments.  Getting rid of these can free up space and increase speed.
