A Prayer for Moms (and Grandmas Too)
One of the most important things you will do for your children and grandchildren is to pray for them.
As my friend Fern Nichols, founder of Moms in Prayer says, “If we are not praying as a parent, who’s praying for our children?”
Here is a prayer you can pray based on the Word of God for your children:
Lord, I praise you for creating my children. Today I come before your throne of grace boldly to intercede on their behalf. I pray my children would stand firm in these days with the belt of truth buckled around their waist. When they are in trouble, may they run into the name of the Lord, a strong tower, for You will keep them safe.
May they not worship other gods, for there is only One Lord. I pray against fear for You God are with us. I pray against worry for You tell us not to be anxious about anything, but to bring our requests to You with thanksgiving.
I ask that my child would use his or her gifts to serve others as a good steward of the grace of God. May my child be filled with gladness and joyful songs. Let the Word of God be the delight and joy of my children’s hearts.
Thank you that You promise to be a Father to my children. You call us your sons and daughters. May my children learn to give thanks in all circumstances because I know this is Your will for them in Christ Jesus.
Protect my children today from evil. Thank You for placing angels around them to guard them in all their ways.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
This prayer will take you a little over a minute to pray out loud.
One minute!
One minute to calm your heart, call out to God, and seek His face for your kids. Insert your children’s name in the prayer. See how praying isn’t difficult? And the benefits are amazing!
