Today in my devotion with Proverbs 31 Ministries, I write about Saul’s father and the worry he probably experienced as a parent.
There are many worries that can fill our hearts as moms and dads.
What if my child feels left out or made fun of?
What if my child is failing at school?
What if my child is struggling with a particular sin?
We must fill our minds with God’s Word and claim the peace that is ours in Christ (even when your kids are going haywire). Left on our own, yes…there is much to worry about!
But with God on our side, nothing is impossible. We have a Heavenly Father who cares deeply for us and who is more than able to help us.
I invite you to pray these prayers based on Scripture out loud right now and ask God to give you peace today:
Lord, I trade my anxiety for your peace. I am not worried about my life or my family, about what we eat or drink, or about what we will wear. I know you take care of the birds in the sky. They don’t store away food in barns, and yet you feed them each day. I know that worry won’t add a single hour to my life. (Matthew 6:25-27)
I humble myself under your mighty hand, so you can lift me up in due time. I cast all my cares on you Father God because you care for me. (1 Peter 5:6-7)
When I give my cares to you Lord, you will sustain me. You will never let the righteous be shaken. You will bring down the wicked. I trust in you with all my heart. I don’t lean on my own understanding. I give all my ways and all my plans to you. I know you will make my path and my children’s path straight. I pray that my family would not be wise in our own eyes, but that we would fear you and shun evil. This will bring health to our bodies and nourishment to our bones and our souls. (Proverbs 3:5-8)
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
